AUTO GLOSSARY
AUTO POLICY TORT OPTION - in Pennsylvania you must choose either full or limited tort.
- FULL TORT- gives you the right to seek recovery for all medical
and other out-of-pocket expenses and also see financial compensation
for pain and suffering and other nonmonetary damages as a result of
injures caused by other drivers.
- LIMITED TORT- choosing the limited tort option limits your right
to seek financial compensation for injuries caused by other drivers.
Eligible insureds may seek recovery for medical and other
out-of-pocket expenses, but not for pain and suffering or other
non-monetary damages unless . . .
- it is considered to be a "serious injury" - permanent, loss of
limb
- the injury is caused by an uninsured motorist
- the injury is caused by an out of state registered vehicle
- the injury is caused by a person who intentionally tries to
injure himself or another person
- the injury is caused by a drunk driver
First Party Benefits - paid regardless of fault.
- FIRST PARTY MEDICAL - reasonable and necessary expenses for
medical treatment including medical, hospital, surgical, nursing and
dental services, medications, medical supplies and prosthetic devices,
ambulance, medical and rehabilitative services. The state of
Pennsylvania requires that all auto policies carry a minimum of $5,000
in first party medical coverage.
- First Party Funeral Expenses - Reasonable and necessary expenses
directly related to the funeral, burial, cremation or other form of
disposition of the deceased.
- First Party Income Loss - 80% of gross income actually lost by
anyone we protect.
- First Party Accidental Death - Should bodily injury cause death to
insured within 24 months of the accident, policy will pay specified
amount to the executor or administrator of the deceased's estate.
- First Party Extraordinary Medical - Reasonable and necessary
medical expenses in excess of $100,000 arising from bodily injury, up
to $1,000,000.
Bodily Injury Liability - all sums of damages legally required to
pay by insured from an at fault accident. Includes bodily injury
meaning physical harm, sickness or disease, including care, loss of
services or resultant death.
Property Damage Liability - all sums of damages legally required to
pay by insured from an at fault accident. Includes property damage
meaning physical injury to or destruction of tangible property,
including loss of use.
Full Coverage
- COMPREHENSIVE COVERAGE - pays for damage to an insured auto and
its equipment when not caused by collision or upset. This includes,
but is not limited to fire, theft, glass breakage, vandalism and
contact with persons, animals, birds, and falling objects. You would
pay your deductible that you have chosen for this coverage.
- COLLISION COVERAGE - pays for any damage to an insureds auto and
its equipment as a result of collision or upset. You would pay your
deductible that you have chosen for this coverage.
Underinsured and Uninsured Motorists Coverage
- Underinsured - protects the insured for losses caused by persons
that do not have enough insurance coverage to pay for damages caused.
- Uninsured - protects the insured for losses caused by persons
carrying no liability insurance coverage.
- Stacking - you have the option to stack your underinsured /
uninsured motorists coverage on your insurance policy, this multiplies
the amount of coverage by the number of vehicles on the individual
policy to give you added coverage.
Auto Security Protection Endorsement
- Auto Lease/Loan Security Coverage - provides additional protection
in the event of a total loss to a covered auto. Coverage is provided
for the difference between the actual cash value of the auto and the
amount due under the terms of the lease/loan.
- Replacement Cost Coverage - will pay to replace your auto with a
brand new auto of like kind and quality.
- Repair Coverage - will pay to repair your auto, without a
deduction for depreciation, if it is damaged but not a total loss.
Auto Enhancement Endorsement
- Diminishing Deductible - your deductible is reduced by $100
for each consecutive claims-free policy year that your policy has been
in force, up to a maximum of $500.
- Transportation Expense - will pay up to five days of
transportation expenses from a covered loss after we offer settlement.
- Death Benefit - will pay $1,000 in the event that anyone we
protect dies as a result of bodily injury caused by an auto accident.
- Increased Coverage Limits - for travel costs, personal effects,
sound equipment and non-owned trailers.
HOMEOWNERS GLOSSARY
Dwelling - coverage for the structure of your home and other
structures. Will pay to repair or rebuild your home if it is damaged
or destroyed by fire, hail, lightning or other losses listed in your
policy.
Personal Contents - coverage for your furniture, clothes, sports
equipment and other personal items are considered personal property
and are covered if they are stolen or destroyed by fire, hail,
lightning or other disaster.
Additional Living Expenses - coverage for additional living
expenses pays the additional costs of living away from home when you
cannot live in your home due to damage from fire, hail, lightning or
other losses listed in your policy.
Liability Protection - protects you against claims or lawsuits for
bodily injury or property damage that you or family members cause to
other people. It also pays for damage caused by pets.
What if your a Renter? - You still need insurance! Contrary to what
some people think, renters are not covered by the landlords policy. If
your apartment burns, the landlord may be reimbursed for the cost of
the building, but unless your have renter's insurance, you will not be
compensated for your contents.
Sewer or Drain Back-Up Coverage - this endorsement provides up to
$5,000 of coverage for loss caused by water which backs up through
sewers or drains. A separate deductible applies to loss under this
endorsement.
Enhancement Endorsement - this endorsement extends the policy's
coverage by increasing the special Personal Property amounts.
- Increases coverage amounts for money, accounts, trailers &
campers, watercraft, theft of guns, theft of jewelry etc.
- Also provides $10,000 coverage for loss caused by sewer or drain
back-up.
Identity Recovery Coverage
- Provides case management service to recover control
over your identity
- Up to $25,000 reimbursement coverage
- actual lost wages
- costs for notarizing affidavits or other similar documents
- costs of credit reports
- fees and expenses of attorneys to defend you in any civil suit
brought against you by a creditor
- costs of re-filing applications for loans, grants or other credit
instruments
